Alan ""Al"" Wayne Wigert , 87, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away on October 27, 2018. He was born on May 28, 1931 in Union, NJ to George and Alice Wigert.
Al grew up in Union, NJ, attended Union High School, and graduated with a Bachelors' degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Boston University. He served in the United States Navy as a flight engineer and was a Korean War Veteran.
He was briefly employed by Curtiss-Wright, followed by a successful career of 30+ years at Air Cruisers Co., later known as Zodiac Aerospace, as Manager of Contracts & Admin. He was held in high regard by co-workers and suppliers alike.
Al was married to Clara LaCorte on November 23, 1957 and they resided in Colonia, NJ from the late 1950's to 1989. After retirement, they relocated to Tequesta, FL where they lived up until a couple years ago when they returned to their NJ roots and settled in Little Egg Harbor Township.
Although he enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, as well as coaching Little League Baseball, Al's passion was boating and he was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed participating on the Turtle Creek Homeowners Association Board in Tequesta, and was an avid member of the West Palm Beach fishing club. He was also a member of The Free and Accepted Masons Loyalty Lodge No. 33, Union, NJ for 50 years. Anyone who knew Al would agree he was a great conversationalist and always made family and friends feel loved and welcomed in his home. Above all he was a loving and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather
Al is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clara Wigert, sons Alan W. Wigert Jr., Scott G. Wigert and Daughter in- law Suzanne Wigert ""Pop"" will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Nicholas, Adrienne, Jared, and Jax. He also leaves an extended family including many great nieces/nephews, and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Claire Wilt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 30th, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and again on Wednesday October 31st, 2018 from 10:30-11:30am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday October 31st, 2018 at 12:30pm at St Mary of the Pines Church 100 Bishop Way Manahawkin, NJ 08050 Interment will follow at St Mary's Cemetery Manahawkin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org .
