Listen to Obituary

Anthony Joseph Perrone, 79 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday April 27th, 2026. Anthony Perrone was born on June 4, 1946, in the hopeful months following the end of World War II. The previous fall, as peace finally returned and the world began the long process of rebuilding, his parents, Joseph and Anna Perrone, decided to welcome another child into their family. Anthony was the youngest of three children. He grew up alongside his brother, Angelo, and his sister, Rosalie, both of whom preceded him in death. Raised in the Park Slope and Bay Ridge sections of Brooklyn, New York, Anthony remembered his childhood in the 1950s as a happy and close-knit time. He attended Our Lady of Peace, St. Stephen’s High School, and later St. John’s University. Even as a teenager, Anthony had an extraordinary work ethic. At just 16 years old, he began working for Merrill Lynch.

In 1965, Anthony joined the New York Telephone Company as a Central Engineer Officer, beginning a remarkable career that would span more than three decades. He rose through the ranks to become a Managing Field Engineer, overseeing telecommunications service and products for many of New York City’s and Manhattan’s largest Fortune 500 companies. Later, as a senior program and project manager, he directed engineering projects across AT&T’s entire network. After retiring from AT&T and Bell Labs in 2001, Anthony continued his work in technology and engineering. At Lucent Technologies, he helped develop internet technology for which he was named as an inventor on a patent. He later worked for IBM in a variety of management and engineering roles before retiring once again.

One of the most important days of Anthony’s life came on November 29, 1969, when he married the love of his life, Rose DeVivo. Together, they built a marriage of 56 years filled with love, devotion, and family. Anthony and Rose made their home in Staten Island, where they raised their two daughters, Juliana, born in 1972, and Monica, born in 1975. In 2000, Monica married John Robinson, warmly welcoming him into the family.

Anthony was a proud father and later an even prouder grandfather to Matthew, Jillian, Brooke, and Stephanie. Watching his grandchildren grow and celebrating their accomplishments brought him enormous joy.

Anthony was deeply proud of his Italian-American heritage and treasured the traditions, values, and strong sense of family that shaped his life. Later, Anthony and Rose moved to Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, where they became active members of the Sea Oaks community and formed many close friendships. Anthony especially enjoyed the activities there and was very fond of his pool room pals. What began as a simple pastime became one of his favorite hobbies, and he took great pride in his skill at the pool table, even winning a championship.

Anthony also enjoyed life’s quieter pleasures, including caring for the fig tree in his yard and spending time with the people he loved most.

Anthony Perrone’s life was defined by hard work, loyalty, friendship, and above all, family. He will be remembered for the loving life he built with Rose, the pride he took in his daughters and grandchildren, and the kindness, humor, and devotion he shared with all who knew him.
