Bernard Staunch

Bernard Staunch, 83, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Bernard also lived in Bayonne, NJ before settling in Little Egg Harbor in 1991, where he made his home for many years.

Bernard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to working as a truck mechanic for APA Leasing in North Bergen, NJ. He was a devoted Communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Little Egg Harbor and a proud member of American Legion Post 493.

Bernard found joy in fishing and, most of all, in spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his dedication, loyalty, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Janet Staunch.

Bernard is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lillian; his son, Russell Staunch of Bayonne, NJ; his daughter, Sharon Staunch of Atlantic City, NJ; his brother, Jeffrey Staunch of Bayonne, NJ; his cherished grandchildren, Robert Strugala, Danielle Strugala, and John Reddy; and his adored great-grandchildren, Carter, Lincoln, and Santino.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 2nd, 2026 from 12pm to 4pm with a Service beginning at 3:30pm at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Cremation will be private, with interment of ashes to take place at a later date.
