Charles Kondak passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday May 17, 2021 at the age of 64. Charlie was born in Spring Valley, NY, was raised and attended high school in Sloatsburg, NY and spent time living in Port Jervis, NY, Middletown, NY, Cornwall, NY and Hudson, NY before settling down with his wife in Selkirk, NY many years ago. Charlie worked for over 30 years for the New York State Thruway Authority as a Toll Station Manager. He took great pride in his job, but also loved the day he retired. Charlie loved talking for hours on the phone with his kids and was so proud of the people they grew up to be. Sometimes he would give unsolicited advice, but it was almost always good advice. In the end, all he wanted was to be home with his wife, kids and grandkids.
He had many interests that included track and field, the NY Mets, talking about finances/economics, bowling, online poker, going to the casino and debating with people on the internet. No matter how you knew him, he knew how to make an impact in your life. He was intellectual, intelligent and sometimes just plain weird.
Charles was predeceased by his parents Charles R. and Rose (Cutrone) Kondak.
He is survived by his loving wife of 4 years (together for 12) Kathleen (Loos) Kondak, daughter Jessica Herb and husband Ricky of Tuckerton, NJ, sons Jeremy Kondak and girlfriend Kristin Nielsen of Little Egg Harbor, NJ and Zachary Kondak of Selkirk, NY, sister Cecilia Misiaszek and husband Mike of Belford, NJ, grandchildren Oliver Kondak, Vera Herb and Beckham Herb, nephews Michael Misiaszek and wife Gina of Lyndhurst, NJ and Christopher Misiaszek of Belford, NJ and his cats Foxy and Junipurr.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday May 23, 2021 from 2pm until his Funeral Service at 3:45pm at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Rd. Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.
