David Messerschmid

David Messerschmid, 86, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023.  Born in Upper Darby, PA he lived in Springfield, PA before moving to Little Egg Harbor 23 years ago.  Dave was married to his beloved wife Marianne for 62 years whom passed last September.

Dave worked for United Insurance Company of America as an insurance agent and manager for most of his career.  He was an avid fisherman since his teenage years, surf fishing off of LBI with his brother and cousin.  He then spent most of his life in search of the largest Striped Bass in the Great Bay area.  He spent years volunteering with Rutgers University: catch, tag and release research program.  He enjoyed competing in many local fishing tournaments with friends and family.

Dave also enjoyed cruising, playing slots and spending time with his family.

Dave was predeceased by his parents William and Evelyn Messerschmid.

He is survived by his loving daughters Joanne Fasy and husband Paul and Linda Janney and husband Brian, grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Nicky, Stephanie, Maxwell and Lauren and great grandchildren Scarlett, Wallis, Emilia and Cooper, his sister-in-law Louanne Harding and husband Dennis, nieces Donna and Sabrina and nephew DJ.

Visitation will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023 from 9 to 11:30am at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.  Burial will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Road Springfield, PA 19064 at 2:00PM.
