Eldridge L. Tucker (1933-2025)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eldridge L. Tucker, 91 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, who departed this life on December 4, 2025. Eldridge was born, raised and lived in Bulls Gap, TN before moving to Little Egg Harbor, NJ in 2017.

Eldridge was predeceased by his parents, Alonzo and Florence Tucker, and his loving wife of 53 years, Delphine Tucker.

Shortly after graduating from Whitesburg High School in 1951, Eldridge moved to Lima, OH where he worked for two years. He returned to TN and began working for Southern Railway. He was drafted during peacetime into the United States Army (1956-1958) where he served with the 519th Field Artillery in Babenhausen, Germany. While on leave in 1956, he married his wife, Delphine. He continued his tour of duty at Fort Lewis, Washington. After being honorably discharged from the armed services, he and Delphine moved back to Bulls Gap, TN where he continued to work as a Signal Maintainer for Southern Railway which became part of Norfolk Southern Railway. He retired after 41 years of employment.

He and his wife were past members of the Clover Leaf Square Dance Club in Morristown, TN and a past member of the Bulls Gap Baptist Church. He was a hard working, kind, and loving man. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and his career. He very much enjoyed woodworking in his converted barn, traveling, talking to his friends and family, and listening to Big Band music.

He is survived by his loving son, John (Ronda) Tucker of Sweetwater, TN, daughter, Carole (Michael) Heck of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, grandchildren, Michael Heck Jr., Thomas Heck, and Alexandra Heck, nephews, David (Julie) Farmer and Brian (Janet) Farmer and sister-in-law, Sue Farmer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Stubblefield Funeral Home 5421 E. Andrew Johnson Highway, Morristown, TN 37814. A celebration of his life will follow the visitation. Burial will be Saturday, December 13, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am at the McCullough-Tieke Cemetery, McCullough Road, Bulls Gap, TN.
