Frederick A. Mayer, affectionately known as Freddie, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of Frederick Mayer and Margaert Mayer Sayres.
Freddie lived a full life, leaving behind his devoted significant other of 20 years, Rosetta Carmiche, and his cherished children: Frederick Mayer (Jaime), Christina Dow (Jonathan), Alex Mayer, and Patrick Mayer. He was a proud grandfather to Madalyn Mayer, Elizabeth Dow, Austin Dow, and Jade Dow. He is also survived by his siblings Lorie Maragelis (Billy), Deborah Iacobelli (Nino), Eddie Mayer, and Donna Taylor (Eddie), as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Throughout his life, Freddie lived in several New Jersey and Pennsylvania communities, including Carbondale, PA; Springfield, Maplewood, Roselle, Toms River, and South Orange, NJ. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he spent his career as a plumber, worked for Breeze Eastern, delivered bread for Stroehmann Bread, and most recently served as a mechanic at South Orange Friendly Service Center.
In his downtime, Freddie enjoyed word searches, watching television, and spending time with family. He was an active member of the Springfield and South Orange Elks and will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to family, and warm spirit.
Freddie was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
