JoAnn Carney

JoAnn Carney, 68, of Hollywood, FL passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2024. JoAnn was a manicurist, a celebrated home cook who loved feeding her family and friends, and most importantly of all, a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother.   JoAnn’s passions included camping, crafting, gardening, and reading a wide variety of novels. She was a phenomenal seamstress who enjoyed making costumes and clothes for her family including her daughter Melissa’s prom dress.

JoAnn lived in Bergen County NJ for over 50 years of her life.  She was born in Teaneck and spent many years living in Dumont during the work week and spending summer weekends with her family at Cedar Creek Campground in Bayville, NJ. In retirement JoAnn was a proud 'snow bird' that avoided the cold by spending summers in NJ and winters in FL.

JoAnn was predeceased by her parents Henry and Helen Dickman.  She is survived by her husband of 48 years Jim Carney, daughter Lindsay Manente and husband Christopher of Belle Mead, NJ, daughter Melissa Akerman of Byram, NJ, her grandchildren Lincoln, Quinn, Matthew, Marianna and Mason and her six siblings Richard, Agnes, Dorothy, Dale, Margaret and Henry.

Cremation will be private. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
