Laraine Heikel

Laraine Heikel, 71, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away on Tuesday September 18, 2018.  Born in Plainfield, NJ she was raised in Scotch Plains, lived in Brick, NJ before moving to Little Egg Harbor 4 years ago.  Laraine was a kindergarten teacher at the George J. Mitchell Elementary School in Little Egg Harbor prior to her retirement.  Laraine served as President of the local Teachers Union.  She was a member of Garwood Presbyterian Church in Garwood, NJ.  She volunteered at Contact We Care and was the training director.   Laraine won ""Volunteer of the Year"" for her outstanding service at Contact we Care.  She was a professional story teller and loved volunteering at schools throughout New Jersey. 
Larraine was predeceased by her parents William and Elizabeth Miller and is survived by her loving brother Dean Miller and wife Jean, nephews and niece, Travis, Caitlin, and Justin, of Flemington, NJ.
Visitation will be held on Sunday September 23, 2018 from 6 to 9pm at Maxwell Funeral Home 160 Mathistown Road Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.  Burial will be on Monday September 24, at 1:00pm at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ.
