Louis Malatesta

Louis Malatesta formerly of Tenafly, NJ passed away suddenly 10-13-21 surrounded in hugs by his loving family.  He was a loving husband to his wife Amy for 38 years, loving father to daughter Ashley Scerbo and her husband Greg and son Tom Malatesta and his wife Theresa. He also leaves behind Franco Scerbo, his beloved grandson who he referred to as his best friend.  Louie was a talented painter and built many handmade holiday decorations which will be cherished for generations to come. Louie was larger than life, anyone who knew him knew he loved to cook a great meal and sit down and talk for hours with a great bottle of wine. He was the best storyteller about fishing trips, people, and life in general. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews who knew they could count on Uncle Lou to entertain them.  Lou was involved in the Steamship Industry for over 30 years. He began his career at Norton Lilly in the operations dept and became the youngest Port Capt. on record. After many years with Norton Lilly he moved on to new challenges at Oldendorff Indotrans and then onto Swire Shipping before moving to the trucking industry.  Lou recently moved to Bass River NJ where he could pursue his lifelong passion for fishing and be closer to his kids. Lou was a gentle soul who had a great sense of humor and a huge heart. Louis was a graduate of Bergenfield Highschool, he is also survived by his mother Frances, sister Joanne and brother James.

Per Lou's wishes, A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday 11/6/21 at 2 PM at: 7 Adams Ave. Tuckerton NJ 08087.
