Paul Cox, 53, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on Friday May 1, 2026. Born in Livingston, NJ, Paul spent over 20 years living in Manahawkin, NJ, before settling in Barnegat about a year ago. Paul attended Union High School graduating class of 1991. He proudly served our nation in the United States Marines and later worked as the USPS Post Master in Long Beach Island, NJ. Paul enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, Star Wars, and Svengoolie horror show. He was a collector of both WWE and Star Wars memorabilia including action figures and trading cards. Paul was an avid sports fan and collector, never missing a NY Yankees or Miami Dolphins game.
Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife Claudia Cox in 2024, whom he missed dearly. Also predeceasing him was his mother Debbie Cox, brother Keith Gelcius, cat Hobbes, and dog Butterscotch.
He is survived by his father Walter Cox of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, son Zachary Cox and girlfriend Joyce Castrovilly of Barnegat, NJ, sister Amy Horton and husband Billy of Little Egg Harbor, sister-in-law Helena Rizzuto of Union, NJ, niece Samantha Horton of Little Egg Harbor, nephew Michael Rizzuto Jr. of Union, in laws Claudio and Maria E. Moniz of Palm Coast FL, and granddaughter Stella Cox.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2026 from 4-8pm and Thursday May 7, 2026 from 10:30-11:30am at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Rd, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Pines Church in Manahawkin on Thursday May 7, 2026 at 12:30pm. Cremation will be private.
