Richard Leigh Stout, 76, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Born in Trenton, NJ, Richard lived in Hamilton, NJ, for many years before making Little Egg Harbor his full-time home in 2017.
A dedicated professional, Richard worked as a programmer for the State of New Jersey and proudly served as a Hamilton Township Republican district leader. He was a man of many passions, with a deep love for adventure and the outdoors. He traveled the world eagerly, fished in breathtaking places like Alaska and Quebec, camped under the stars, explored in his RV, golfed, biked, read voraciously, captured moments through photography, researched his family roots through genealogy, played quoits with friends, sang acapella, and savored a cold beer on a perfect day.
Above all, Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and steadfast love touched everyone around him.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Esther Stout.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and soulmate of 32 years, Grace Stout; his son, Richard “Leigh” Stout Jr.; his brother, George Stout (Angie); his sister, Karen Stout Andres; and cherished good friends Vincent Mastropasqua and Dominico Mastropasqua.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a celebrant service beginning at 12:00 p.m., at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.
In honor of Richard's passion for nature and the outdoors, the family welcomes contributions to plant memorial trees through organizations such as the Arbor Day Foundation (arborday.org) or One Tree Planted (onetreeplanted.org). These living tributes would mean the world to us. Flowers are also appreciated if you prefer.
