Robert John Eckert Jr., 66, of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on November 8, 1959, in Orange, New Jersey, Bob grew up in Parsippany and graduated from Parsippany Hills High School in 1977. He worked as Sexton of the Parsippany Presbyterian Church for 30 years before founding his home renovation business in 2013. That same year, he and his wife moved full-time to Little Egg Harbor Township, where he dedicated himself to helping neighbors rebuild their homes and lives in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and loyal friend to many. He was an active member of both the Interboro Gun club and the Osborne Island residents association. He enjoyed woodworking, from houses to fine furniture, was a world class sportsman and chef oftencooking up his own wild caught game for friends and family.
Above all, he cherished time with his family. His greatest joy was taking care of the people he loved, and his quiet acts of kindness left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Those who knew Bob will remember his wonderful sense of humor, his generous heart, and the unique way he made everyone around him feel valued and welcome.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert J. Eckert Sr. and Gertrude (Kocher) Eckert.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kathleen; his son, Robert Francis Eckert and his wife, Cassandra, of Independence Township, New Jersey; his daughter, Julie Anne Zimmerlink and her husband, Zachary, of Woodbridge, New Jersey; his cherished grandson, Gabriel Eckert; and his siblings, Jeffrey, Katherine, Mark, and Keith Eckert.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a brief memorial service beginning at 2:30 p.m., at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.
Though he will be deeply missed, Bob’s love, strength, kindness, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy is one of hard work, unwavering devotion to family, and a life lived with humor, compassion, and a willingness to help others.
