Ulrike Ritchie

July 13, 1938 — February 18, 2022

Ulrike (Uli) Ritchie, 83 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Friday February 18, 2022 surrounded by family after an extended illness.  Born in Neunkirchen (Saar) Germany, she lived there until meeting her beloved husband Paul who was stationed at Army Base Badenerhof Kaserne in Heilbronn, Germany. She and Paul were stationed many places during his military career before making Little Egg Harbor, NJ their home 30 years ago.  Foremost, Uli cherished time with her family and took pride in taking care of her home in which she gladly welcomed friends and visitors. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, walking with her friends and practicing yoga. Uli loved helping people and had a delightful sense of humor. During her career she worked as a physical therapist at a children’s hospital in Germany and she also taught the German language to soldiers while living at Patch Army Base in Stuttgart, Germany.  Uli further demonstrated her love of people and her helpful nature through her volunteer work at nursing homes and providing hospice support.

Uli was predeceased by her parents Werner and Erika Simon (nee Damerau) and her beloved husband of 61 years Paul Ritchie. She is survived by her loving sons Arno Ritchie and wife Mary of South Plainfield, NJ and Gary Ritchie of Orlando, FL, treasured grandchildren Andrew, Erika and Aaron and many close relatives in Germany and Amsterdam.

Cremation services are private and under the care of Maxwell Funeral Home, Little Egg Harbor, NJ and a Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.

Donations in her memory can be made to Amnesty International at www.donate.amnestyusa.org
