Listen to Obituary

William Kenneth “Ken” McLaughlin, 91, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. His passing leaves a quiet space in the hearts of all who knew him; one filled with memories of kindness, humility, and a life lived with purpose.

Born in Montclair and raised in Bloomfield, Ken carried with him the values of his New Jersey upbringing throughout his long and whole life. After years in Florham Park, he and his beloved wife, Rosemarie, made their home in Little Egg Harbor in 2002, where they continued to build the family-centered, faith-filled life that defined him.

Ken’s faith was a guiding force. A devoted communicant of St. Theresa R.C. Church, he served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. He was the founder and organizer of the St. Theresa Charity Golf Tournament, bringing people together through fellowship and service — two of the things he loved most. He was a proud 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. Before moving to Little Egg Harbor, he was equally active at Holy Family R.C. Church in Florham Park, where his quiet leadership and steady presence were always felt.

A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Ken built a distinguished career at Western Electric/AT&T, starting as an Installer and advancing to a senior executive role. He achieved success the way he lived his life: through dedication, integrity, and an unwavering work ethic.

Ken’s commitment to community ran deep. For 35 years, he volunteered with the Florham Park EMS, answering calls at all hours, serving neighbors in moments that mattered most. He also chaired the Florham Park 4th of July Parade for its 25th Anniversary, helping to create traditions that brought families together year after year.

Outside of service and work, Ken found joy in the simple pleasures that reflected who he was: a round of golf with friends, cheering on his beloved New York Yankees and New York Giants, and long, easy days at the beach. For more than 20 years, he and Rosemarie spent winters as snowbirds on Sanibel Island, a place he cherished for its peaceful shores, Those closest to him will forever remember his steady voice, his gentle humor, and the unmistakable light in his eyes whenever his family walked into the room.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, William and Katherine McLaughlin, and his siblings James McLaughlin and Maureen McLaughlin.

He leaves behind the most incredible legacy of all — his family. Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Rosemarie McLaughlin, whose partnership with him was the foundation of their family. His children also survive him: Melinda Mensinger (Craig) of Upper Township, NJ; Deborah McLaughlin (John) of Ocean City, NJ; Dori DiAntonio (Rick) of Ellicott City, MD; and Keith McLaughlin (Ken) of Denville, NJ.

Ken was the proud grandfather of Michael (Melissa), Brett (Tom), Sarah (Mike), Scott (Morgan), and Lindsey (Chris), and the loving great-grandfather of Paige, Parker, and Sophie, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. His legacy lives on through them; in their traditions, their stories, and the example he quietly set for all of them.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 10:30 AM until the celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa R.C. Church, 450 Radio Rd., Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Theresa’s Food Pantry in Little Egg Harbor or the Florham Park Memorial First Aid Squad, in honor of Ken’s lifelong commitment to service and community.
