Ferdinand “Fred” Peterson, 87, of the Sunrise Bay Community in Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away peacefully at home after a short illness on Saturday September 12, 2020. He was born in Port Reading, NJ. He graduated from Woodbridge High School and Rutgers University with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War with the 748th Engineering Field Maintenance Company. He worked for General Motors for 32 years as a Cost Accountant retiring in 1990. He married Linda A. Sattler on August 11, 1962 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy and Edison, NJ where he sang in the choir and was the secretary of the treasury. Together they lived in Iselin, NJ before moving to Sunrise Bay in 2002 where he enjoyed his passions of tennis, bowling, singing in the choir, bocce and shuffleboard. They joined and attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Brant Beach, NJ. They built a vacation home in Cape Hatteras, NC where Fred enjoyed the beach, crabbing, boating, fishing, puttering around the house and the friendships of the many friends there. He was very sad to sell it 2 years ago.

He is predeceased by his parents Holger and Emma, his 2 brothers Holger and Henry, his sister Gloria and his daughter-in-law Carla.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda of 58 years, his 3 children David (Sheela) of California, Kurt (Olga) of Pennsylvania, Kristen (Richard) of Tuckerton, NJ and his 7 grandchildren Eric, Claire, Valerie, Annelise, Philip, Sophia and Richard Jr.

A private graveside service will be held.
