Juan Carlos Fontanes

Juan Carlos Fontanes, 61 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 1, 2021. Born on Christmas Eve in the Bronx, NY, he has lived in the Mystic Islands section of Little Egg Harbor for most of the last 50 years. Juan worked as a manager for the NJ Department of Human Services for over 30 years, most recently at the New Lisbon Development Center, where he was a strong and compassionate advocate for those he served. Having ample opportunity after his retirement from State service in 2016, Juan enjoyed boating, fishing, and socializing with his friends. Juan was an avid superhero and comic fan, and was rarely found without a superhero shirt on. Juan also enjoyed watching classic monster movies and any B-rate movie out there. Juan attended Calvary Baptist Church in Little Egg Harbor, and made a profession of faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Surviving Juan is his beloved wife of 21 years Carolyn Fontanes, adored son Rafael Fontanes, brother and sister-in-law Rick and Ileana Fontanes of Marlboro, NJ, nephews Francisco Fontanes and Antonio Fontanes with their wives and children, and a multitude of friends. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, 11:00 am, at Calvary Baptist Church, 850 Railroad Drive, Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Please wear a superhero shirt or item in honor of Juan.  In Lieu of Flowers, please make donations in Juan's memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org.
